Retirement Facility Slip and Fall Accidents
When considering retirement facility slip and fall accidents we need to be aware that there is evidence that aging increases the possibility of slip and fall accidents.
Intrinsic changes associated with aging including musculoskeletal and sensory degradation have an effect on the detection of slip and fall threats and the recovery process of slip and falls.
Regardless of why they fall...we do know that aging causes increased accidents and we need to be particularly concerned in facilities for the aging.
"Prior to applying the Slip Resistant Solution's Ceramic Tile Floor Treatment, my front walk was a very hazardous area...it required that we place a SLIPPERY WHEN WET sign out every time the sprinkler system when on or it rained. I anticipated improvement after the application, but it exceeded my expectations.".....The Carriage Inn ACLF
We had another call recently from a retirement facility that was reporting slip and fall accidents in the bathtubs. Upon inspection of the bathtubs we found that the residents themselves or their families had put all kinds of bathtub decals in the tubs to provide for more safety. These bathtub stickers can be a source of bacteria and make the tubs extremely difficult to clean. We removed all of the slickers and the tubs are still slip resistant to this day.
Another retirement facility reported slip and fall accidents in the bathing areas on the ceramic tile. It was so slippery they were actually using sheets and towels to make the floor safer. We did the treatment for them several years ago. They were thrilled with their slip resistant floors and doing a great deal less laundry.
